We Won an Award!

A big and very exciting Happy 60th Birthday to The Club – as we have just received the prestigious gift of being accepted into the Club Leaders Forum, Platinum Clubs® of the World 2022/23.

We are delighted to enter the new year and share the wonderful news that The Club has been recognized as one of the Top 100 City Clubs in the World by Club Leaders Forum, covering the period 2022 and 2023.

Clubs awarded Platinum Status represent the most outstanding Private Clubs in the world and the award is made to less than 1% of all private clubs around the globe. Platinum Status has earned the reputation as the most respected award in the private club industry.

To be recognised with this illustrious list, we were invited by Club Leaders Forum to enter into a ballot where we went head-to-head with other highly respected clubs around the world. We submitted our online presentation back in June 2021 to an Advisory Board based in California, USA. This was subsequently scrutinised by an esteemed international panel of industry experts and connoisseurs of private clubs who deploy a tried, tested and robust proprietary points system to rank all the clubs under consideration. The rigorous selection process is managed by Club Leaders Forum, the preeminent consulting source for private membership clubs worldwide and audited by an independent third party.

The international judging panel referred to the following seven criteria when making their decisions:

1. Universal Recognition
Tradition, history and heritage are the foundation of the most prestigious clubs around the world. Newer Clubs may be universally recognized by global travellers and society alike as demonstrating the highest standards in their operating procedures, membership, and pre-eminence. All Clubs shall embrace tradition, newly forged or formulated over time, and have an international allure that makes them stand apart from all others in their respective areas of the world.

2. A Respected Membership
The foundation of the most revered Private Clubs is the Members, their character and integrity, and the admission procedures of the institution. Members take pride and responsibility in their Club and its distinctive culture. Members embrace camaraderie within the Club and form lasting business and social relationships with one another. They are expected to demonstrate a commitment to the traditions of the Club, consider the next generation, and attract prospective new Members who share these ideal.

3. Excellence in Amenities and Facilities
Great Clubs display an element of distinction and offer their Members outstanding facilities and amenities. They endeavour to provide the finest Member experience while keeping pace with deferred maintenance and capital upgrades. New amenities are developed to satisfy today’s Members and attract future Members.

4. Exceptional Service Standards
The world’s finest Clubs recognize staff as their most valuable asset. Employees must be dedicated and committed to delivering unparalleled service that exceeds member and guest expectations. Staff development is critical, and training is ongoing. Success results when mutual respect between Club Members and the Employees is fostered.

5. Adapting to Changing Times
Excellent Clubs strive to anticipate their membership’s changing needs, interests and evolution. These Clubs have a strategic plan for change; they adopt a mission statement that clearly addresses who they are and where they wish to be through the ages. They maintain the sanctity of their history and culture and remain flexible enough to evolve with the changing times.

6. Management and Operations
Every great institution and organization requires clear and decisive leadership. Clubs are managed in a manner that stimulates a distinctive Private Club culture. Club Management implements the policies, procedures and operational strategies as directed and approved by the Club’s Leadership.

7. The Overall Experience
The Experience, from the anticipation of the visit to arrival and departure, is a critical element when evaluating a Club considered for Platinum status. Some of the elements of the overall experience are tangible, yet others are intangible. Clubs that provide lasting memories and create a keen desire to return are usually those that deliver the ultimate Private Club experience.

We would like all Members, past and present to join us in celebrating this international award. Our particular thanks go to those Members who have gone out of their way to contribute to and shape The Club’s success over the last 60 years and we hope that this sense of responsibility and camaraderie prevails for decades to come.
